Wisconsin Giant Traveling Map

In 2007, National Geographic first offered rentals of their Giant Traveling Maps of continents. These maps are really giant maps, averaging about 25 feet by 35 feet in size. WIGA decided to “tour” one or more of the maps for several weeks each year with a Map Ambassador going school to school and sharing the geography of that continent with lucky students, teachers, parents and community members.

Now, with the help of National Geographic, the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance is excited to announce the arrival of the first ever Giant Traveling Map of Wisconsin! This map is 17 x 21 feet and gives students the opportunity to explore our state by walking on the map while doing geography-related activities.

The best part is that you can request the map to visit your school! Complete the request form below and we will work with you to set up a date for the Giant Traveling Map of Wisconsin to visit your school. A Map Ambassador will bring the map to your building and help lead activities for students to explore Wisconsin geography! There is also a link below to some lesson plans the Map Ambassadors can use with your students. Just a helpful reminder, since the map is 17 x 21 you might need to reserve a space for it in your school.
